Job Description:

In a Distribution Center setting, the Material Handler may undertake multiple roles. These positions are designed to enhance the objective of processing Inbound and/or Outbound freight efficiently, safely, and on time.

Major Activities:

• The Distribution Center operates to fulfill orders made for retail stores and other Distribution Centers. The tasks assigned to employees can include Receiving, Labeling, Putaway, Order Picking, Slotting, Replenishment, eComm order fulfillment, Hybrid throwing, Loading, and specialty roles like Inventory Control that need additional training. The utilization of manual or powered industrial machinery and RF guns might be essential for accomplishing the assigned tasks.
• Compose a production log that accounts for any changes in work responsibilities, unexpected productivity shortcomings, and relevant meetings in order to sustain the integrity of productivity data.
• Follows through on other duties given by the business as required.

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills:

• Basic computer skills for certain roles

• A valuable work skill is the capacity to function in both individual and group settings
• Nurses, doctors and other healthcare providers need to be proficient in basic math to calculate medication dosages and rates of medication administration
• Individuals who possess a talent for keeping detailed and accurate records are invaluable in certain job roles
• Good interpersonal skills can help individuals understand different perspectives and build strong relationships despite cultural or language barriers

Preferred Education:

• Consideration is given to applicants who possess a high school education or its corresponding certification

Job Experience Needed:

• Candidates with previous experience handling manual and/or powered industrial equipment are preferred
• A foundational understanding of warehouse and distribution center processes is recommended, and those with experience working in production environments will find this role particularly appealing

Physical Requirements:

• The repetitive action of carrying and relocating products within a weight range of 5 to 60 pounds
• Continuous exertion of effort to move heavy or bulky items through pushing or pulling
• Consistent standing necessary while operating powered machinery and completing tasks
• Spending a significant amount of time walking, primarily within the walls of the warehouse
• Constantly performing routine movements like squatting, reaching, and stretching to maintain physical agility
• Persistent movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers over a period of time

Work Environment:

• Individuals may encounter different levels of temperature extremes depending on their surroundings, the location of dock doors and exits, and external weather conditions
• The conveyor/sortation system and powered industrial equipment are known to produce a moderate amount of noise
• The use of powered industrial equipment may lead to sporadic vibrations
• Possibility of encountering hazardous gases and suspended matter in the air
